Question: What is the correct diagnosis code for chondritis of the larynx?

Answer: You should report 478.79 (Other disease of larynx). Note that this code also represents abscess, necrosis, obstruction, pachyderma, or ulcer of larynx. You should turn to either 464.00 or 464.01 for ulcerative laryngitis, however.
Coming soon: Diagnosis 478.79 will change to J38.7 under ICD-10, with the same descriptor of “other disease of larynx.”
