Flu season can drive up through the roof the number of patients who absolutely need to see your doctor today. You should plan ahead and leave more slots open for December and January, says John Otterson with University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Of course, not every flu season is as horrific as the current one, says Martin Blume with Eagle Medical Management. It can be hard to plan ahead for such variables.
Also, if your practice has a lot of "snowbirds" traveling south for the winter, be prepared to give them physical exams and checkups before and after their southward trip, Otterson says.
