Better Pay For IntraOcular Lenses Overdue?

Set your sights on sending in a request for review

If your office also operates an ambulatory surgery center or your physician does procedures in an ASC, here's your chance to speak up on an important topic.
 
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is taking requests for review of current payment rates for new technology intraocular lenses.

Your request -- one copy and three originals -- will need to arrive at the address below by 5 p.m. E.S.T. on March 29, and should include the following:
 

  • the name of the manufacturer, the model number, and the trade name of the IOL,
     
  • the Food & Drug Administration's summary of the IOL's safety and effectiveness,
     
  • the labeling claims of the IOL's specific FDA-approved clinical advantages,
     
  • the IOL's original FDA approval notification,
     
  • reports of modifications made after the original FDA approval, and
     
  • any information that supports your claim such as clinical trials, case studies, journal articles, etc.

    Remember to clearly identify all information that is to be characterized as confidential.
