If you've been frustrated by the fact that you're essentially barred from registering multiple eligible professionals (EPs) in the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program, relief is on the way. Starting this May, CMS will allow an EP to designate a third-party to register and attest on his behalf.

That's the word from a Feb. 7 CMS news release on the matter, which offers the reminder that EPs are currently "not permitted to allow a practice manager or any other person to register in their place," because sharing your user name and password with third parties can compromise the security of your information. Therefore, until the change occurs in May, "each EP should register himself or herself separately for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs," the notification indicates.
