Pediatric Coding Alert

Correction:

99440 Has More RVUs Than 99436

The October 2003 Pediatric Coding Alert contained a typographical error in the article "2 Examples Help You Improve Your Neonatal Emergency Reimbursement." The sentence "Because newborn resuscitation pays more (2.03 relative value units) than attendance at delivery (3.99 RVUs), you should always report 99440 (resuscitation) when you have the option" reversed the RVUs. CPT Codes 99440 (Newborn resuscitation ...) has 3.99 RVUs, and 99436 (Attendance at delivery ...) has 2.03 RVUs.
