Question: Can I report more than one unit of group therapy (CPT 97150 ) per day for the same patient?

Answer: Most likely, the answer is no. Medicare expects only one occurrence of 97150 (Therapeutic procedure[s], group [2 or more individuals]) per patient per day.

If you're in a facility or in an institutional therapy setting, you may apply this code more than once for a patient per day, but you would need to supply strong documentation that supports the medical necessity and clinical appropriateness of providing more than one separate session of group therapy.
