Question: Our physiatrists have started using a "Wound VAC system" to expedite wound healing. Which codes should we report for our Wound VAC services? Maryland Subscriber Answer: If your physician uses this product, he should include his wound care services in his E/M visit ( CPT 99201 - 99215 ) for that day. The Wound Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC) device consists of an evacuation tube embedded in a polyurethane foam dressing. The device helps aid wound closure and keeps infection away from the patient's skin.
