An article in Podiatry Coding & Billing Alert Volume 3, Number 4, "Diagnosis Coding: 735.0 or 727.1? Tackle This Condition Terminology for Foot Claims Success," inaccurately suggested that a podiatrist might need to refer a patient to another surgeon for procedures such as excision of Morton's neuroma or endoscopic plantar fasciotomy. In fact, in many cases referral would be unnecessary, as these procedures would fall well within a podiatric surgeon's scope of practice. We apologize for implying otherwise.
