Answer: In the CPT® code book Index, search for Decompression. You’ll then follow the terms down until you find Neuroplasty. Under the Neuroplasty subsection, you’ll find Hand or Foot Nerve. The lateral plantar nerve is located in the foot.

Jogger hands on foot. He is feeling pain as his ankle or foot is broken or twisted.

Assign 64704 (Neuroplasty; nerve of hand or foot) to report the decompression of the lateral plantar nerve. During the procedure, the physician incises scar tissue and other sources of pressure from around the nerve to relieve tension on the nerve.
