Question: I heard there was a new IGIV LCD for Noridian, but I can't find it. Where should I look?

Answer: In August, Noridian announced a draft (not final) Part B local coverage determination (LCD) for IGIV (Immune Globulin Intravenous), also called IVIG. The comment period for the draft LCD ends Nov. 12, 2012.

To access the draft LCD:

  • Start at www.noridianmedicare.com/partb/coverage/draft.html
  • Select your state
  • Choose the draft LCD based on the title: DL32846, Immune Globulin Intravenous (IGIV).
  • The draft addresses indications for IGIV use for:
  • Pregnant women with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)
  • Certain neurologic disorders
  • Symptomatic human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia with hypogammaglobulinemia
  • Bone marrow/stem cell transplant
  • Kawasaki disease
  • Kidney or stem cell transplant rejection.
