2013 Might Bring More User Friendly Coding for Vaccines and E/M

Here's your sneak peek at proposed 2013 code changes.If you've ever wished for a list of applicable E/M codes you can report with vaccines and their administration, you could be in luck in 2013. Background: The CPT® Editorial Panel accepted a request for "revisions to the CPT guidelines in the Medicine/Vaccine/Toxoid Administration subsection to include a specific listing of applicable Evaluation and Management CPT codes," according to recently-published February meeting notes.Caveat: There's no guarantee the changes will be implemented in CPT® 2013; the AMA instructs that "until the annual publication of the CPT code set, there is a potential for some small further revisions."Watch for Potential Vaccine -- E/M Code ConnectionPublishing a list of vaccine and administration codes you could report with E/M services would eliminate confusion about which codes can and cannot be reported along with vaccine administration codes.CPT® may also list the applicable E/M codes that go along with [...]
