Reader Question:

Code 95117 for Two-Injection Visit

Question: A patient comes to our office once each week for allergy injections. The nurse administers two injections (one in each arm). Do we bill 95115 and 95117, or only 95117? Oklahoma SubscriberAnswer: Report the injections with 95117 (Professional services for allergen immunotherapy not including provision of allergenic extracts; 2 or more injections). Explanation: Code 95115 (... 1 injection) represents the same type of service as 95117, but for a single injection (one injection total, not one injection per limb). Because your nurse is administering two injections during the visit, 95117 is more appropriate.
