Rubidium coding gets a facelift

CPT Codes 2006 brought a wave of change for radiology codes in 2006. We've pulled out a few of the most important changes--the ones you can't afford to miss.

FDG code effective Jan. 1, 2006

• A9552--Fluorodeoxyglucose f-18 fdg, diagnostic, per study dose, up to 45 millicuries

FDG code terminated Dec. 31, 2005

• C1775--Supply of radiopharmaceutical diagnostic imaging agent, fluorodeoxyglucose f18 Rubidium code effective Jan. 1, 2006

• A9555--Rubidium Rb-82, diagnostic, per study dose, up to 60 millicuries

Rubidium code terminated Dec. 31, 2005

• Q3000--Supply of radiopharmaceutical diagnostic imaging agent, rubidium Rb-82, per dose.  Note: The full list of HCPCS Codes is at www.cms.hhs.gov/providers/pufdownload/anhcpcdl.asp. Be sure to check each code's effective date and termination date.
