Cervicocerebral Angiography May See Coding Changes in 2013

Chest tube placement and nuclear medicine updates may be in your future, too. If you want a sneak peek at the CPT® changes under consideration for 2013, the AMA has a site you need to see. You'll find summaries of CPT® Editorial Panel meeting actions here: www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/physician-resources/solutions-managing-your-practice/coding-billing-insurance/cpt/cpt-summary-panel-actions.page. If the changes are finalized for 2013, you may see new guidelines and eight new codes (362xx) bundling "arterial catheter placement and diagnostic imaging of the aortic arch, carotid, and vertebral arteries," the February 2012 document states. The bundling would result in the deletion of several 756xx codes. Also possible are updated coding options for chest tube placement (32xxx), parathyroid imaging (7807x with new SPECT options), and endocrine nuclear medicine (780xx).
