Check Out the RVU Changes Coming Your Way

Imaging and vascular surgery both have a place of honor on the AMA's CPT 2007 seminar tentative agenda.

The November seminar covers major CPT and RVU changes--we'll keep you updated on what to expect in coding and payment in 2007.

In the meantime, here's the effect CMS' proposed RVU changes would have on the specialties you code for:

RVU bonus: Not all radiology codes in the 70000 series will be affected by the discount for multiple scans on contiguous body parts and the outpatient PPS cap, CMS officials clarified in the June 27 Physician Open-Door Forum. For imaging codes whose work or practice-expense RVUs change thanks to the recent proposal, the  reimbursement won't be allowed to exceed the outpatient PPS level.
