Reader Question:

70546 Applies to Venogram, Too

Question: How should I code magnetic resonance venography without and with contrast?Codify MemberAnswer: You should use the same codes you would use for magnetic resonance imaging of the arteries. "Angiography" refers to imaging of the blood vessels. The term is not specific to only arteries or only veins. An "arteriogram" is artery imaging, and a "venogram" is vein imaging. For example: The radiologist may interpret a magnetic resonance arteriogram and venogram of the brain, without and with contrast. You should report 70546 (Magnetic resonance angiography, head; without contrast material[s], followed by contrast material[s] and further sequences).
