Reader Question:

Consider Extra Films Standard

Question: When we have to use additional films to get a comprehensive mammogram from a patient, can we get paid for the extra films? Or are they already considered "paid for" by the fee for the standard examination? Illinois Subscriber Answer: The short answer to your reimbursement question is "no." However, that doesn't mean there aren't situations in which you should be receiving additional pay when performing screening and diagnostic mammograms. You can't charge for extra films or larger films, for that matter, when attempting to complete the standard views for either a screening or diagnostic mammogram.
