Reader Question:

Include Pressure Measurement With Catheter

Question: Our radiologist performed a selective catheterization of the renal artery and also ran an intraarterial pressure measurement with it. Can we report the intra-arterial pressure measurement separately? Florida Subscriber Answer: No. If the radiologist performed renal artery catheter placement, you should report only 36245 (Selective catheter placement, arterial system; each first-order abdominal, pelvic, or lower-extremity artery branch, within a vascular family). Pressure measurements are an integral part of the basic procedure, and you cannot report them separately.
