Question: If a quantitative left ventricular ejection fraction is ordered along with a cardiac CT scan with contrast, what additional procedure code can be billed to capture the quantitative left ventricular ejection fraction?

Answer: You're best bet for the entire procedure is 76497 (Unlisted computed tomography procedure [e.g., diagnostic, interventional]).
The American College of Radiology recently announced its recommendation of CPT 76497 as the best code for computed tomographic (CT) evaluations of coronary vasculature and other special cardiac CT and CT angiography (CTA) examinations that are still in development.
Translation: If your payer agrees, 76497 is the smart choice for the cardiac CT with quantitative left ventricle ejection fraction (EF). You report the code once to cover both the EF and CT.
