NCCI 10.0 Bundles Retrograde Cystos With Other Cystos

urology practices may no longer unbundle CPT Code 52005. National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) version 10.0 changed the modifier indicator from "1" to "0" (can no longer unbundle) for 52005 (Cystourethro-scopy, with ureteral catheterization, with or without irrigation, instillation, or ureteropyelography, exclusive of radiologic service).

Code CPT 52005 has received a changed modifier indicator of "0" instead of "1" (version 9.3) for a particular set of codes. CPT code 52005 can no longer be unbundled from CPT Codes 52320, 52332, 52341, 52342, 52343, 52344, 52345, 52346, 52351, 52352, 52353, 52354 and 52355.

Practices will not be able to unbundle or be paid for an accompanying cystoscopy and retrograde pyelogram (52005), for example, when a urologist also performs a ureteroscopic procedure (52351-52355) or placement of a double-J stent (52332).
