Capture Mitrofanoff Revision Using 52

Question:  How would you code a cystogram, left allograft nephrectomy, ileal augmentation of bladder, and a Mitrofanoff revision?

Answer: You should bill the following codes for this procedure:

  • 50370 (Removal of transplanted renal allograft) for the allograft nephrectomy
  • 51960 (Enterocystoplasty, including intestinal anastomosis) for the ileal augmentation
  • 50845 (Cutaneous appendico-vesicostomy) for the revision of the Mitrofanoff, with modifier 52 (Reduced services) attached to indicate that the urologist did only a revision procedure and not the full Mitrofanoff procedure 
  • 51600 (Injection procedure for cystography or voiding urethrocystography) for the injection of the contrast for the cystogram
  • 74430 (Cystography, minimum of 3 views, radiological supervision and interpretation) with modifier 26 (Professional component) attached if the urologist personally reads the cystogram within the hospital setting.
