Reader Question:

Multiple Scrotal Cysts

Question: How should I code for multiple scrotal cysts of various sizes?

Ohio Subscriber

Answer: If the question is what diagnosis code should be used, the answer is 706.2 (sebaceous cyst). If the question is how to code the excision of cysts, the CPT code range 11420-11426 (excision, benign lesion, except skin tag [unless listed elsewhere], scalp, neck, hands, feet, genitalia) should be used. Dont forget to code separately for each cyst excised.
