Observe Which Codes to Report for Video Urodynamic Tests

Question: I did some research about video urodynamic tests, and I see that they combine cystometry, uroflowmetry, and X-ray cystography into a few tests. The digital equipment used can measure urine flow and pressure in the bladder and rectum by using X-rays. The equipment takes images of the bladder during filling and emptying. However, I’m not sure which CPT® codes I should report for this service. Can you help me?

Answer: You should report the following codes, if the urologist added a video part to the urodynamic study:

  • 51600 (Injection procedure for cystography or voiding urethrocystography) for the instillation into the bladder of the contrast material
  • 74455 (Urethrocystography, voiding, radiological supervision and interpretation) for the voiding cystourethrogram or 74430 (Cystography, minimum of 3 views, radiological supervision and interpretation) for a static cystogram.
