Question: What code should I use for laparoscopic cystorrhaphy? Alabama Subscriber Answer: Check out CPT Codes 51999 (Unlisted laparoscopic procedure, bladder). Tip: You must have a detailed operative report and a cover letter explaining what your urologist did and why in layman's terms to be paid for this procedure since you're using an unlisted code. Indicate that a review of the 2010 CPT manual failed to reveal a specific Category I or II procedure code, and also indicate that an open procedure with similar work, expertise needed, skill, and time required to complete the procedure would be 51860 (Cystorrhaphy, suture of bladder wound ,injury, or rupture; simple) or 51865 (...complicated).
