Update Your Contrast Codes

Question: I've started getting rejections on Q9949 when I report it for contrast. Why am I getting denials, and what should I do to correct them?South Dakota SubscriberAnswer: The payer is denying your claims because you are using an invalid code. CMS deleted Q9949 effective Jan. 1, 2008. You should now report Q9967 (Low osmolar contrast 300-399 mg/ml).Remember to bill Q9967 based on the number of units your urologist injects.
