The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released new HCPCS Level II code Q0221 for 600 mg of tixagevimab and cilgavimab. This code is now available on Codify by AAPC.
Providers may order these co-packaged agents to prevent COVID-19 in a patient who does not have known exposure to the virus but who is immunocompromised or has had an adverse reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine or its components.
The effective date of Q0221 is Feb. 24, 2022, based on the date the Food and Drug Administration revised the emergency use authorization for tixagevimab co-packaged with cilgavimab to change the initial dose. At this time, Q0220 is still an active code for supply of 300 mg tixagevimab and cilgavimab.
