The American Medical Association (AMA) released new codes 96380 and 96381 for administration of a monoclonal antibody product that protects against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common respiratory virus that can be serious, especially for infants and older adults.
In addition to administration, 96380 includes counseling by a physician or other qualified healthcare professional. You’ll use 96381 for administration without such counseling. Use these administration codes in conjunction with monoclonal antibody product codes 90380 (0.5 mL dosage) and 90381 (1 mL dosage).
Codes 96380 and 96381 have an effective date of Oct. 6, 2023, and they are now available on Codify by AAPC.
