The American Medical Association (AMA) has released a new code for a third dose of the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer: 0073A.
The effective date of the code is Jan. 3, 2022, although the AMA did not publish the code until later in January. The date is based on when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) “expanded its Emergency Use Authorization to include a third primary series dose of Pfizer’s pediatric COVID-19 vaccine for certain immunocompromised children 5 through 11 years of age,” according to the AMA.
Code 0073A represents administration, and the related vaccine product code is 91307.
