I know that pharyngitits (J02.9) cannot be billed with influenza (J11.1), the patient tested positive for both. Is it ok to bill these the 87880 with dx J02.9 and 87804 with J11.1? As long as the dx is not billed on same line its ok to bill?

I have a question. You stated that the patient tested positive for both. What did the clinician state within their notes? Just because the test came back positive doesn't mean a coder gets to assign the positive result. The clinician needs to review the results and provide their interpretation. There may be other factors the clinician reviews such as radiology, cultures, pathology reports, etcetera to make their final interpretation.
