Question. If a physician leaves the practice after treating OB care and another physician is hired and takes over, can I bill the antepartum care codes 59425 and 59426 for the physician that left? Both physicians are under the same department. The physician leaving wants his RVU's for seeing the patients before he leaves.

No, you shouldn't bill the antepartum now. If the provider leaves and another takes over her care in the same practice there is still potential for global billing (59400, 59510, etc.) since the practice provided all of her OB care. You shouldn't bill anything out until she delivers or transfers out of the practice. The provider leaving should talk with his management team to find out the specifics for his pay. I'm sure they will have his answers.
