So my company is finalizing a contract with Optum as a VA community care network provider and n the contract it says to use -TC modifier wit 90832, 90837, 90838, etc. and -26 modifier with things like group seasons. Here is my question- why would we use -TC modifier with individual thereapy and -26 with group sessions. I am relatively a new coder and biller but to my knowledge there is not a professional and technical component to these … right? What am I missing
 
Without seeing the contract, it would be tough to say. It doesn't make sense however, there could be some reason and/or they may be using the modifiers in a different way specifically for these services. Are you 100% sure that's what it says?
