Our mission is to help students improve their life by preparing them for a career in the medical field. As a private school we offer post-secondary educational programs that meet the needs of the current job market. In doing so, we provide appropriate health related education for patient-focused care and cross training of competent medical personnel. The Academy strives to prepare our students to be productive, employable assets to the community and their employer. To fulfill our mission, we: • Foster a student-centered environment conducive to personal development and success; • Offer high quality, affordable programs with a job market demand; • Enhance access and opportunity for a student population that may not otherwise seek post-secondary education (i.e. first generation, non-traditional students); and • Develop and sustain partnerships that support instruction and meets the needs of our community.

Class Details:

The Academy's Certified Professional Coder DAY class will meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The course length is 20 weeks and will consist of 612 academic clock hours. Our in-depth curriculum will cover medical terminology, anatomy, and the intricate uses of  ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. This course will enable you to more effectively and accurately code.

Participants will also have thorough training in using both the tabular and alphabetical list of  ICD-10 codes, CPT and HCPCS Level II Code sets. You will understand how to complete insurance forms, track late claims, and appeal denied ones. And, you will become familiar with the medical insurance and third-party reimbursement processes.

Because our courses use the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) curriculum and educational resources to teach the program, you will be eligible to take the CPC certification exam once you complete the course. This means that you will be more likely to obtain a well-paying job and begin your career immediately. There are many benefits to becoming a certified professional coder. These benefits may include: multiple job opportunities ranging from employment in physician offices, hospitals, and insurance companies; opportunities to work from home or enjoy flexible schedule options; a shorter training period compared to other professions within the same salary range; and increased compensation compared to non-certified coders.
