What you will learn:

Many clinical practices as well as facilities struggle with the coding of injections and infusions because there are specific, complex, CPT guidelines with initial services, and concurrent and subsequent services. There are also ways to report the administration of multiple drugs at one session, or more than one session. This workshop will dissect the guidelines found in CPT to better understand when to use the proper CPT codes. There will also be a supplemental table to be able to use as a job aid for coding these injections and infusions. When reporting for chemotherapy infusion, you not only choose the CPT code(s) based on time, but also on the number of drugs being administered and the method being used. The drugs involved in these services can be expensive, and the profit margin is usually small. We will also discuss the assignment of HCPCS codes, and pricing for these drugs. Case examples will be reviewed for common combinations, and multiple drug administration.
