Hello, is modifier 24 applicable in this scenario?
very pleasant female who was admitted with a small bowel obstruction in the setting of right colectomy with Dr. a month prior for large bowel intussusception.
She failed SBFT and is not exhibiting return of bowel function. If her obstruction does not begin to resolve clinically over the next several days, she may require exploration in the OR. Her abdominal exam remains benign and her labs and vitals argue against any abdominal emergency at this time. Will continue to monitor over the weekend and let Dr. decide on operative management as long as she does not demonstrate any significant clinical decline. Continue NPO with NGT to LIWS for now. Ice chips, gum, and hard candies for comfort are OK. She should be OOB and ambulating as much as able.
