Deborah has been involved in health care for 30 years and speaks nationally across the country
in relation to compliance, coding, and reimbursement. She has worked with many physicians nationally
on coding, reimbursement, compliance and regulatory issues across many specialties. Deborah has
specialized in medical chart audits among many specialties as well as practice management and
coding consulting. Deborah is the Past President of the AAPC National Advisory Board. Deborah
is certified by AAPC as well as the American Health Information
Management Association, and a past CPT Editorial Panel Member representing AAPC.
Deborah is the author of many coding publications for the AMA. She is the author of Principles
of ICD-9-CM Coding in its fourth edition, Coding with Modifiers in its third
edition, and Medical Record Chart Auditor in its third edition. She is also the
author of the ICD-10-CM Implementation Guide, Making the Transition Manageable,
which was recently released in October of 2009. In addition to authoring books for the AMA,
she has authored the Certified Professional Coder-Hospital™ Study Guide,
and the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum-Hospital for
the American Academy of Professional Coders. She is a certified AAPC PMCC Curriculum instructor.
