ICD-10-CM Implementation

The reporting of health care diagnoses and procedures in the United States will be changing on Oct. 1, 2014, switching from roughly 14,000 ICD-9-CM codes to about 69,000 ICD-10-CM codes. Total ICD-10 codes (including ICD-10-PCS) jumps from 17,000 to 140,000. ICD-10 will change everything and require a significant effort for providers as well as health plans.
