Good Morning All,
I have a radiology department charging for an Abdominal US when they cannont complete a Thoracentesis. I am new to this group, and when I questioned an edit for an Abdominal US with diagnosis of Neoplasm of the lung and pleural effusion, I was informed that they practice billing for this when there isn't enough fluid for the procedure. Please see below the answer I was given, and advise how you would bill. Would you bill the US with the diagnosis, and just let it deny?? Thank you.
There was no fluid to drain, the procedure wasnt performed other than imaging. The tray wasnt opened.
Documentation with images and a report were obtained showing this.
