Wiki Can a company revoked your membership?

Hello, i would like to ask when you are under a corporate membership, do they have power to revoke your membership if you don't want to be with them anymore?
They can't revoke your membership, but it's pretty standard process that if you leave your employment with the company, they'll remove you from their list of members under the corporate membership. Corporations aren't going to pay the dues of people who aren't their employees. You'll just go back to being an individual member again and be responsible for your own dues. AAPC will pro-rate your dues to the next renewal date and you shouldn't have to pay for any of the time you were under the corporate membership.
 
i have renewed my license just this month and it said expiration date will be on 6/30/2023 but i joined a new company and its now under corporate membership the expiration became 4/23/2023, i wonder if i leave the company will the expiration date remains the same which is 4/23/2023 or go back to 6/30/2023?

You'd need to contact the membership department at AAPC and talk to them about it. I'm not sure how the would handle the overlapping time. I expect that if you had already paid through 6/30/23, then the company probably never made any payments to AAPC for your membership since you were already active, and you would likely just revert to the membership you had before. But I'm sure if you call or email them they'll explain to you how they'll handle this for you.
 
When you're on a corporate membership, your renewal date changes to the company's renewal cycle.

If you leave that company and go back to an individual membership, it reverts back to your individual renewal cycle which is based on your original AAPC join date.

For example, my individual renewal date was normally due in July. I'm currently on my employer's membership, which renews in January.

If I leave this employer, I'll go back to my normal July renewal date.

Depending on what date I left my job & where that date fell in the membership cycle, there may be some proration that occurs to get me back on my individual July renewal date.

You'll be notified when you leave that employer what you need to do and when your next renewal will be.
 
Hi Can anybody please tell me, whether any company can cancel your CPC certification, if that company itself has sponsored your (From paying exam fees to membership) CPC certification. Or they only can revoke the corporate membership but you will still be a CPC certified Coder

Your employer (or likely now former employer) cannot revoke your actual certification. However, your certification is only active when you are an active member with paid dues. As explained above, there is a window from when they cancel your corporate membership for you to transfer it and pay for your personal membership. You should reach out to AAPC directly.

What if it's the other way around. The previous company itself revoked/removed your certification in AAPC even if you already have renewed your membership as an individual member using your own expenses for the renewal.

Individual Membership in AAPC will expire in 2-3 months from now but it says the certification is not there even i have paid for it along with the required CEUS for the.

Can your future company(employer) renew or reinstate the certification on your behalf as a corporate member this time? Without going the hassle of retaking the exam again because of the certification issue.

It sounds like an administrative issue, that you can hopefully clear up with a phone call. If your membership was cancelled within the last three years, you can request reinstatement without retesting. It will involve paying any outstanding membership fees, submitting any missing CEU's, and a reinstatement fee of $200. Your new employer can renew/reinstate the certification, but not yet. You will first need to resolve any issues with your prior certification status.

I've already made contact/reached out with the former company and mentioned that they cannot reinstate my certification and they have removed/revoked my certification. Are they really allowed to do that especially when there was a contractual obligation/bond of at least 2 years of stay in the company and you voluntarily resigned?

In addition, they requested/suggested that I will have to undergo to re-take the examination for the certification which is the worst case scenario that I would not do as it takes time and effort for me to do the training and process again.

Is it possible that I can reinstate my certification on my own as I can pay it by myself. My future prospective company that I applied to is willing to sponsor as well for the corporate membership renewal once I finally joined with them.

The thing is they have already revoked my certification even before/after I already renewed my membership as an individual member on January 31. I am so saddened with this situation though as taking and passing the exam was a significant milestone on my end, and now it would not be of good use anymore do this case. AAPC support and my previous company told me to retake the test which is the only option to reinstate my certification which I don't have plans to do. As per certification and cancellation policy, if credential is cancelled within the last three years, you can request a reinstatement of credential without retesting. The thing is, I cannot see the reinstatement link in my profile even though it has been less than a year yet since my certification was revoked in January. Can I request for a reinstatement letter for this for me to sign instead and pay for whatever dues I have to just to close this case. Thank you.
