Facility vs. Physician Coding

Overview:

This webinar will identify the difference between facility and physician coding and the purpose behind each process, including the use of revenue codes, occurrence codes, place of service codes and more. Procedure coding will include discussion on use of status indicators, modifiers, sequencing, cancellation, as well as when to use CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 Volume 3 coding systems appropriately. In addition, diagnosis coding will review sequencing, signs and symptoms, definitive diagnoses, acute and chronic conditions, complications, neoplasm, V codes and more. The focus of the webinar will be geared toward demonstrating the need for employees to understand both coding processes in order to maintain communication and coding accuracy with all patient scenarios.

• Diagnostic coding differences using ICD-9 Volume 1 & 2

Being trained on the job typically focuses on the immediate position as it relates to the healthcare facility and this webinar will identify other aspects of the coding process for a better understanding. In addition, employees will benefit from knowing the different requirements for facility and physician coding to allow improved communication in obtaining necessary information needed for coding accuracy.
