Overview:

This webinar is a basic review of the necessary steps for medical record auditing in the physician practice including tips for best practices that help ensure compliance to coding and documentation requirements.

You Will Learn:

  • When and how to identify records to audit including potential red flag areas
  • The type and frequency of audits and steps to conduct these audits
  • Resolution of audit findings – what to do with your audit report to ensure positive outcomes

Both beginning auditors and experienced coders will benefit from learning about the ABC’s of auditing. This webinar will provide you with the basic tools needed in the audit process including references and resources for auditing. We will review issues that may trigger outside auditors and costly audit findings. Help protect your practice from costly outside audits and how to conduct your own audits that identify these issues or when to seek help from audit experts.

About The Presenter

Credentials: CPC, CPC-P, CPMA, CPC-I, AHFI

Jonnie Massey has been in the healthcare industry for more than twenty-five (25) years. Jonnie's progressive experience includes extensive work for both payers and providers. She holds nationally recognized credentials from AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) that include the CPC, CPC-P, CPC-I and CPMA certifications. She is an AAPC approved ICD-10 trainer. Jonnie is also an Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator (AHFI) through the National Healthcare Anti-Fraud Association. Jonnie has been a team write/contributor to numerous health care related projects including the test and curriculum for the CPC-P (Payer) credential, and the CPMA (Medical Auditor) credential. She taught coding in the local Portland area, as well as conducted numerous training sessions both locally and nationally on a variety of topics related to healthcare including fraud and abuse investigations and audits, medical identity theft, foreign claims fraud and auditing procedures and protocols. She has numerous published articles in local and national publications. She spent 13 years conducting healthcare fraud investigations and audits and supervised audit staff in multiple states for Regence (BlueCross BlueShield) in Oregon. Jonnie has also participated in numerous local and national workgroups related to health care. She is a nationally recognized subject matter expert and presenter on a variety of topics related to health care.
