Question: I just started working at a cardiology practice with a superbill that lists 93380 for a carotid Doppler. I can’t find that code. Is it correct?

Answer: Most likely, 93380, which isn’t a valid code, is a typo that is supposed to be 93880 (Duplex scan of extracranial arteries; complete bilateral study).
For accurate coding, keep in mind that 93880 is specific to extracranial arteries and bilateral studies. For unilateral or follow-up extracranial studies, use 93882 (Duplex scan of extracranial arteries; unilateral or limited study).
