Answer: Doctors of Chiropractic are eligible for the eRx Incentive Program and the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) additional payments, which CMS developed as a result of the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 to give eligible providers a financial incentive to participate in a quality reporting program related to Medicare claims.
However, chiropractors are not eligible for incentive payments for another program known as the Physician Scarcity Area payment. The Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA), Section 413a, requires that an additional 5% bonus payment be made to physicians in designated Physician Scarcity Areas (PSA) that have a shortage of health professionals. This does not apply to DCs.
