Know The G Code for Complete Recovery

Question: A patient presents after a series of treatments without reportable pain. He expresses his pain level to be “zero” on a numeric pain scale. The provider therefore does not perform documentation of a follow-up plan. Please suggest an appropriate “G” code for the scenario.

Answer: This is a common scenario that a DC would encounter in his practice, mainly when a patient recovers completely with the treatment. The code in this case is G8731 (Negative Pain Assessment, no follow-up plan required).

This is a regular situation as a patient reaches the end of a successful care regimen. This would also be appropriate for patients who are under asymptomatic “wellness” care.
