Question: Our op note says colonoscopy withapplication of Resolution clip. Flecks of old blood were visible and bleeding was not induced by the maneuver. The patient has persistent rectal bleeding. How should I code this scenario? Florida Subscriber Answer: If your gastroenterologist used the clip to control bleeding, you should code 45382 (Colonoscopy,flexible, proximal to splenic flexure; with control of bleeding [e.g., injection, bipolar cautery, unipolar cautery, laser, heater probe, stapler, plasma coagulator]). Resolution is a brand name.
