• Short funds are leading to short-sighted thinking by some state legislators. The Missouri state Senate has advanced a bill that would cut home care services for that state's Medicaid recipients, reports the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. The bill would strip $11 million from Medicaid home care spending by privatizing assessments for the benefit and cutting Medicaid payment rates, the newspaper says. But the bill's outcome isn't yet sealed. The legislation may not save money overall and would weaken the state workforce, Sen. Wes Shoemyer (D-Clarence) tells the newspaper.
