• Four new individuals will be helping decide the fate of your Medicare reimbursement. The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission,which makes influential Medicare payment recommendations to Congress, has appointed four new members: Scott Armstrong, CEO of Group Health Cooperative, a health system in Seattle; Katherine Baicker, Professor of Health Economics at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston; Mary Naylor, Professor of Gerontology at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing in Philadelphia; and Cori Uccello, Senior Health Fellow of the American Academy of Actuaries. Two existing commissioners were also reappointed to MedPAC: Thomas Dean, a family physician in Wessington Springs, S.D. and Herb Kuhn, CEO of the Missouri Hospital Association and former CMS official. Outgoing MedPAC commissioners include Bill Scanlon, formerly with the Government Accountability Office.
