New Point Of Origin Codes Confuse HHAs

You're going to have to use your judgment when deciding between new point of origin codes 1 and 2 for your claims. So said regional home health intermediary Palmetto GBA in its latest Ask The Contractor Teleconference (ACT) on July 6. Home care providers must include a point of origin code on the claim, Palmetto said. Code 1 indicates "non-health care facility." That includes home, Palmetto said. Code 2 indicates "clinic or physician's office." "The provider decides which code is appropriate, based on the source of referral for the admission," Palmetto said in the ACT meeting.
