New Survey & Cert Memos Address Life Safety Code Issues

Hospices with inpatient facilities can’t afford to overlook two new Survey & Certification memos about the Life Safety Code. “CMS began surveying facilities for compliance with the 2012 edition of the LSC and HCFC on November 1, 2016,” the agency reminds state surveyors in S&C memo 17-15-LSC.

Memo 17-15-LSC directs surveyors to use the 2013 edition of the NFPA 101A, Guide on Alternative Approaches to Life Safety, known as the FSES. “The 2013 FSES will be used in place of the 2001 FSES which was previously approved for use … with the 2000 LSC,” CMS notes.

S&C-17-14-LSC addresses sprinklers.
