READER QUESTION ~ Bill Solu-Medrol Infusion by Supervising Doctor

Question: Physician A in our group ordered a patient's Solu-Medrol infusion, and Physician B administered the infusion in our office. Which physician should I list on the claim?

New Mexico Subscriber

Answer: Your physicians played two different roles in this situation: referring and supervising/administering. Physician A served as the referring physician, and Physician B performed the procedure. When you code the  infusion, report it under the supervising physician (Physician B).
