Correction

The December 2002 Ob-Gyn Coding Alert Extra article "Know the Codes for Hysteroscopy" should have stated that although 58563 (Hysteroscopy, surgical; with endometrial ablation [e.g., endometrial resection, electrosurgical ablation, thermoablation) does not specifically include dilation and curettage (D&C), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists�(ACOG) coding committee has determined that because ablation consists of removing the uterine lining and a D&C scrapes off a portion of the lining, the D&C is included as part of the ablation if the ob-gyn performs both during the same session.
